Hybrid Audio Technologies, a boutique maker of component car audio speakers, is entering the 12 volt subwoofer market.
Its first model is a 6.6 inch driver designed for tight spaces including a center console or saddle bags in a motorcycle.
The Imagine 16SW at $159.99 has a stamped steel basket with spider venting and reverse-roll surround. It uses a 96-ounce high grade ferrite magnet assembly with a 2-inch voice coil made of 4-layer aluminum.
Power handling is 60 watts nominal (AES standard).
Hybrid expects to add 8- and 10-inch subwoofers to its line and is planning to add to its component lines with a new Unity series of drivers to fall in the $350 price range, it said.
