Barnes & Noble will phase out its black and white 3G Nook, leaving it with only 2 eBook choices: the NOOKcolor and Nook WiFi.
If the report in Engadget proves true, the bookseller would put all its eReader eggs in the WiFi basket, without a 3G model.
B&N is reportedly already winding down stock of the Nook 3G.
Barnes & Noble announced Monday that its NOOKcolor has contributed to a triple digit percent lift in sales of eMagazines and eNewspapers at its NOOKnewsstand.com store. Sales of the digital periodicals rose by 150 percent in December compared to a year ago.
The NOOKcolor, introduced in November has a 7-inch color touch screen and can access some apps at $249.
The Nook 3G sells at $199 and the Nook WiFi is available at $149.
