Concept is showing at the Consumer Electronics Show, its “Dash Pad” –a double DIN in-dash AV/navigation radio with a removable screen that becomes a PND (portable navigation device) when detached.
The $999 “Dash Pad” has a 7-inch screen with built-in GPS and Bluetooth and it comes with a car kit. So when you travel, you remove the screen and put it in your pocket. When you get to your destination you can put it in a car with the dash kit for both handsfree calling and navigation. It has a touch screen and maps of the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
Also new are headrests that include 7-inch all digital panels with about 720p resolution. There’s no need for a digital to analog converter. Each headrest also includes a DVD player, SD and USB ports and RCA inputs and outputs. The line should ship right after CES at $359 per headrest.
A second headrest line adds touch screen to the digital screens for an additional $20 per headrest.
