Viper SmartStart GPS module will ship this quarter and it will work with an updated version of Directed’s current SmartStart app. Users may then track their car when the teenaged son is out at night. They can set the phone to alert them if their son visits certain kids they don’t like. They can geofence or find their car in a parking lot, or set a limit and get an alert if the limit is exceed. The annual service fee is about $69.
Moving beyond the car, the Viper SmartStart app now may also control your home security system from the phone. It works with the Alarm.com GSM-based home security system. If you flip your wrist the phone switches from a car to a home screen to arm and disarm the home alarm.
