Coby introduces tablets at CESCoby is aggressively pushing into tablet PCs with approximately 23 new models at CES.

One of the Coby tablet lines is awaiting Google approval so it can access the Android Market for downloading apps, which would give the tablets a leg up on most budget-priced models that lack a direct Android Market connection.

Coby’s 2011 lineup includes a new 25 Series in 7-, 8- and 10-inch screen sizes with Android 2.2. The tablets include an accelerator, Bluetooth, WiFi, a Web cam, and 1080p support with access to sites such as YouTube and Facebook and apps via AppsLib. A 26 series gives you the same features and screen sizes but in a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of the typical 16:9 aspect. Pricing on the lines will be announced with shipping scattered over February and March. Models are available with either for 4 or 8GB of storage.

The 35 Series may launch with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) or it may get Android 2.2. It will also add the ability to use an optional AirCard for 3G capability. The 35 series will have the same 7-, 8- and 10-inch screen sizes and Coby is hoping it will be approved by Google for access to Android Market. Other features are similar to the 25 series.

In its current Kyros series, Coby is launching the MID7020, which essentially adds a Web cam and a speakerphone to its current 7-inch tablet—the MID7015. To ship at the end of January or early February, the MID7020 offers WiFi and runs Android 2.1. It supports 1080p video with an HDMI port. Apps can be downloaded via AppsLib.
