Notion Ink—the India-based company expected to ship one of the first Pixel Qi tablets in January—has released a demo video of its Adam tablet for a better look at its capability.
The much awaited Android tablet is seen with a highly responsive screen, plenty of multi-tasking, and the hint that it might use Honeycomb instead of Gingerbread for an OS.
The tablet is considered cutting edge, in part, due to its Pixel Qi screen–a break-through technology as it offers the best of both worlds in tablet viewing: you get a color screen that’s still viewable in direct sunlight with low power consumption.
The Adam’s Pixel Qi 10.1-inch screen has two modes. With the backlight on, the screen looks and behaves like a standard color LCD. With the backlight off, the screen becomes a reflective ePaper display in black and white that works in sunlight. It is said to get even brighter as more sunlight pours on it. Plus it supports video (while E Ink does not). When in this latter reflective mode, the screen uses 80 percent less power so battery life is improved.
The Notion Ink Adam tablet also uses Tegra 2 and dual core processors. It has an HDMI output, 3-axis accelerometer, and a 3.2 MB swivel camera.
