Garmin said it will supply a wireless navigation device for Suzuki 2011 vehicles, making Suzuki the first U.S. car company to offer a connected OEM PND.

The device will provide wireless online information such as Google local search, traffic, weather, fuel prices, movie listings, flight status, local events and white page phone listings.

The Garmin device will be based on the nuvi 1690 and will be offered in the 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara and SX4 models, including the SX4 Crossover, SX4 Sport and SX4 SportBack.

The unit sits in a mount that’s integrated into the car but the GPS device is fully detachable and can be carried with you.

The first year of wireless service is free and then it costs $60 per year.

The Suzuki cars are arriving in showrooms now. This is the third year in a row that Garmin has supplied Suzuki on an OEM basis.
