Parrot GPS/Bluetooth Kit for any Smartphone

share on:

Parrot is showing at the SEMA show today a Bluetooth + navigation kit for converting your smartphone into a navigation and handsfree device. Parrot says its kit is the the first to allow this for any smartphone on any OS including Android, Apple iOS 4, and BlackBerry, said Parrot.

The MINIKIT Smart is a windshield/dash mount kit to hold the phone in place and charge it so it may be used for navigation and Bluetooth hands free calling.

It uses the navigation already running on the phone and amplifies the voice directions (if available) through the kit’s 2 watt speaker. The phone can be displayed in landscape or portrait mode. With some phones, you can put the GPS on hold when a call comes in and restart the GPS directions later.

For hands free calling the kit has a retractable microphone. It automatically updates the phonebook once it pairs with the phone and then it can store up to 10 different phonebooks for different phones.

There’s no training needed for the phonebook. State a name and the kit will call it.

The kit will ship in November at $130 suggested retail price.

Retailers stocking the MINIKIT Smart include BestBuy.com, Crutchfield.com, 6th Avenue Electronics, Car Toys (Seattle), Al & Ed’s, ABT Electronics, Fry’s Electronics and Bell Canada.
