Hewlett-Packard is bundling an Android tablet with a $399 printer introduced on Monday.
The tablet is actually the HP Zeen that was rumored in August. It’s come to market as a 7-inch Android 2.1-based device that detaches from the Photosmart eStation WiFi printer. You can print directly from the tablet without requiring an intervening PC.
The tablet is intended as a companion to the printer so that users can easily find photos and documents on the web and print them without needing a PC.
The device has a built in eReader that connects to the Barnes & Noble eBookstore. But it’s search and email functions are restricted to its pre-installed Yahoo! Widgets. There’s also a Facebook and a Snapfish widget.
But if you are looking for a full fledged tablet, you may want to wait as HP is expected to introduced devices in coming months running on Palm’s WebOS and Windows 7.
