Garmin Launches Second 3G-PND

Garmin is pushing deeper into connected portable GPS devices with its second model to use 3G over AT&T. The wireless connection links you to Google local search, traffic and weather.

The new nuLink! 1695 now also adds superior routing that takes into account the usual traffic patterns for any time of day. It has a 5-inch touch screen and it connects to a service that also provides fuel prices, flight status, movie listings and other data.

The nuLink! 1695 is an upgrade to the 1690 introduced a year ago. Again, the main difference is it calculates your routes with traffic patterns in mind and it also remembers your favorite routes. It will ship this month at $450. The first year of service is free and then usage fees are $5 per month.
