B&N Android App; Shifts to Nook Brand

Barnes & Noble extended its eReader software to Android phones with a new app that now goes by the title “Nook for Android” as the booksellers seeks to play up its Nook eReader brand. Instead of bearing the Barnes & Noble title, the booksellers existing apps will shift to the names Nook for iPhone and Nook for iPad in coming months.

Nook for Android works with phones running Android OS 1.6 and higher. Users can shop over 1 million eBooks that may also be read on numerous other devices such as Nook eReaders and PCs and bookmarked across all the platforms. Users can also “loan” and eBook (email it to a friend) for up to 14 days.
