3D Infiltrates Notebooks

Lenovo is the latest PC maker to enter the 3D fray joining Acer and MSI as 3D extends beyond the TV and games to computing.
Lenovo’s version is a laptop with a 15.6-inch 3D screen that requires the user wear special glasses provided with the unit. Since few 3D movies are available, the IdeaPad Y560d includes technology that converts standard 2D videos and photos to 3D. It gives photos “a whole new life,” says Lenovo.
The 3D laptop will start at $1,200 and ship at the end of June. It also comes with up to 8GB of memory and up to 750GB of storage, JBL-designed speakers and Dolby Home Theater surround sound. The Y560d runs on an Intel Core i7 processor and uses an ATI Radeon HD5730 1GB graphics card. The High-Def screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Asus is also planning a 15.6 inch 3D laptop and MSI announced a 24-inch 3D net-top (desktop all-in-one computer with the processor built into the display) both due in Q3, said Wired.
