Research in Motion isn’t going to sit back and let Apple and Google (Android) steal its thunder apparently as the company is preparing not only a new touch-screen phone and OS but a tablet PC.
The Wall Street Journal reports that RIM is testing a phone with a slide-out keyboard running on a new BlackBerry OS that works a lot like an iPhone—users can swipe and pinch through screens. Plus it has a universal search bar to access all the phone’s data plus some web data.
As for the tablet—it would tether to the phone for its 3G service. Think of it as a large-screen companion to a phone. It is still under development but could come out by the end of the year, sources told the WSJ.
RIM is also working on a faster Internet browser that can access more than one web page at a time.
