Target is emphasizing video games in a new electronics department layout that will be in half of its stores by June. The retailer is also expanding its TV and camera assortment and it continues to roll out the Kindle eReader to more of its outlets.
In the new electronics department, the video game section is 30 percent larger and it will display a 40-inch high definition touch screen where consumers can look up video game information and game ratings and recommendations. Also some stores will get special “Learning Centers and Trial Stations” for video games.
On the TV side, the retailer is expanding its selection of TVs and improving its TV wall. It is adding super-slim LED TVs and Internet-ready models. Target is also adding more SLR cameras.
Target recently became the first brick and mortar store to offer Amazon’s Kindle eReader which is now available in 104 stores and will be rolled out to the chain on June 6.
