FLO TV gets Pay as You Go

Don’t like those $15 a month fees for FLO TV? Now FLO TV– the paid mobile video service available for smartphones, car tuners and portables—will offer a pay as you go option so users don’t have to sign up for the full monthly service plan, it said.
The new “day pass” option will begin in the second half along with other services, said Qualcomm, FLO TV’s parent company, during the NAB show.
FLO TV will also add “interactive features” to its video service. And it will let users time-shift programming or store it on the FLO TV device for viewing later, even if you are an area that can’t get FLO TV service.
FLO TV’s car tuner system–the AVXMMF1 at a street price of $399– has been available for about a month through retailers and a $199 portable PTV-350 is currently available as well.
They offer programming from ABC, CBS, CNN Mobile, COMEDY CENTRAL, Disney Channel, ESPN, FOX, MTV, NBC, nickelodeon and other networks.
FLO TV hopes its service will expand to devices such as eReaders and tablets.
In February FLO TV previewed smartbook apps that combined FLO TV and a related Twitter feed. It also showed FLO TV combined with a Zinio eReader app.
FLO TV is offered in 100 major markets reaching over 200 million potential customers.
