Sprint announced the names of additional cities that will receive 4G service this year including Los Angeles and Miami.
A total of 120 million Americans should be able to receive 4G access by the end of the year, building from the 27 markets that already have access to 4G—which provide data speeds up to ten times faster than 3G service.
Newly announced markets are Cincinnati, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Miami, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City and St. Louis. Earlier this year Sprint announced that it planned to launch 4G in Boston, Denver, Kansas City, Houston, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., in 2010.
Sprint is the majority shareholder of Clearwire, which is building a 4G WiMax network.
