For some background, over 1,000 people are working on a car project at an Apple complex in Sunnyvale, California, according to AppleInsider.
As of last September Apple was reportedly committed to creating an Apple Car to be released in 2019. Although, rumors since say top Apple designer Jonny Ive was not happy with the progress and the future of the car appeared less certain.
