Garminfone at T-Mobile this Spring

The “Garminfone” (aka new Android version of the nuvifone) is coming to T-Mobile this spring. It’s the first Android-based Garmin GPS/smartphone and the GPS-maker is hoping it will meet with better sales than the original Linux-based nuvifone.
The Garminfone has a 3.5-inch screen and acts as a portable navi device within a smartphone. By merging the two devices, the phone is hyper “location-aware.” It knows where you parked your car. The phone provides one-click access to directions when you click on a name or address, text or email. Photos are geo-tagged so you can navigate to the place where they were taken. Users also get real time traffic, weather updates and movie listings. The phone has a 3MP camera with autofocus for taking those geo-tagged photos.
In case you just want to remember a friend’s directions, Garminfone includes a new app called Garmin Voice Studio that lets you record and share your own voice directions to a location. The phone comes with a dashboard/window mount that charges the phone as its navigating. No word on pricing yet.
