Soundz Inc, the motorcycle audio and powersports audio company, has purchased Hybrid Audio Technologies, the car audio enthusiast brand since 2005.

Both companies have been working together for the past five years offering products with shared design ideas. But marketing the two brands as competitors created problems. The merger now allows the one company to market freely in the motorcycle, powersports and car audio arenas.

Soundz CEO Peter Jensen said, “This is an outstanding opportunity to continue the relationship built with Hybrid Audio Technologies over the past five years while expanding our capabilities as a company to offer industry-leading products, services, and solutions to an ever-expanding marketplace.”

Scott Buwalda, who founded Hybrid Audio Technologies, will assume the role of Lead Technical Adviser and Engineer.

Buwalda literally started Hybrid audio with a single speaker driver in his garage at a time when many people said high end car audio was dead, he said. “I’ve dedicated my life to this industry and the Hybrid Audio Technologies brand.  However, I’m at a time in my life when I want to enjoy designing speakers, listening to great music, and spending more time with my family. I am beyond confident that the legacy I have built within the company, the “Legatia™,” will continue as I intended almost two decades ago. It’s always been about the music for me, and I cannot wait to have that be my only focus moving forward in my new role with Soundz!”

Klifton Keplinger, former Executive Vice President of Hybrid Audio Technologies, joins Soundz as VP of Marketing. He will work alongside Soundz VP of Sales, Bill Ickes.

Soundz will continue the traditions of both Soundz and Hybrid Audio Technologies, said Jensen.

  1. As a dealer of soundz I am super excited to see these forces join!!!

Pete is always killing it with upgrades to his already killer products and customer services. What awesome news!!!

  2. This is really a great thing as it will allow both companies to flourish! The smartest thing they could do is leave Scott as head engineer. The man is a genius! I’ve always wondered what he could do once he had the burdens of a business off of his shoulders……
I’m betting we’re getting ready to see!
That’s why I say congratulations to both sides as this is a remarkable thing for the car audio industry!
I would like to say thank you to Scott and Klifton for being two very kind individuals that have helped me a lot. I wouldn’t be able to do some of the things now that I do without you both!
