Scosche is introducing at CES a dashcam that can generate and submit an accident report to participating insurance companies.

The dashcam uses Nexar Cloud technology to store events and generate insurance reports in the event of an accident.  It pairs with a smartphone app, using the phone’s accelerometer and sensors to detect and record accidents.

The dashcam has a 140-degree wide-angle lens and Sony low-light image sensor with “high end, OEM-like” styling.

The app runs in the background, so users still have full use of their smartphone.

The dashcam automatically starts and stops recording when you begin or cease driving.   It has a touchscreen “event” button to mark significant events and footage.

Scosche says the dashcam will create a crowd-sourced vehicle-to-vehicle safety network.

Nexar is working with major insurance companies but is not yet permitted to name them.

The dashcam will be available in Spring 2019 and on display at CES, South Hall 3, booth #31106.
