Rydeen Mobile Electronics announced the release of a digital mirror monitor with a built-in 4.3-inch display for rear camera monitoring, plus Bluetooth calling and a digital link to a smartphone.
The new MD4BT has a built-in HDMI connector to link to a smartphone or tablet to display video. The mirror’s built-in Bluetooth allows audio streaming from a Micro SD card as well as hands free phone calls.
The backup camera overrides the video screen when the car goes into reverse. There’s also a proximity sensor that activates voice commands (Siri and Google Now).
Rydeen says the MD4BT allows drivers to operate their vehicle as safely as possible while using a smartphone.
It is designed to fit thousands of vehicle applications via the company’s windshield mounting system.
The new mirror is part of Rydeen’s Advanced Vehicle Technology series at a suggested retail price of $299.
MHL/HDMI adapters for iPhone and Android based phones are available separately.
