Garmin recently finalized its purchase of Fusion Electronics Ltd and its subsidiaries, which could lead Fusion beyond the car and marine audio markets.

Fusion will continue to be based in Auckland, New Zealand and it will operate as “Fusion Entertainment.”

Todd Crocker, who runs West Coast Sales, said he continues as the exclusive rep for Fusion in the Americas.  “For the most part, the way we’re running our business today is not going to change,” he said.

He expects that Garmin will make an investment in Fusion in terms of inventory holdings and product development that “could lead Fusion to penetrate markets outside of marine.”

These might include audio products for RVs and outdoor entertainment and possibly some all-terrain, UTV vehicle products.  In the future, the company might enter the commercial heavy equipment product market, said Crocker.

The new Fusion Entertainment is officially a wholly owned subsidiary of Garmin, with the corporate name  of Garmin New Zealand Limited.
