The next version of Apple’s iPhone will use a technology that makes the screen thinner, and the picture clearer, said The Wall Street Journal citing sources familiar with the matter.
The iPhone 5 is currently in production and includes a screen with touch sensors built into the display so there’s no need for a separate touch screen layer. This makes the screen thinner, and permits an improvement in image quality.
Numerous other reports say the new iPhone will have a longer screen, providing a larger overall viewing area.
The Wall Street Journal speculates the thinner screen could offset the additional weight added by a larger screen. Or it could make the whole phone slimmer or provide room for an improved battery.
