OnStar said it will issue some announcements about its retail FMV mirror just prior to the Consumer Electronics Show.
Last year OnStar demonstrated a prototype 4G system that showed traffic camera views on your dash screen so you could see traffic patterns ahead on your route. It also permitted Skype video chat in the car.
This year, OnStar will collaborate once again with Verizon Wireless to demonstrate 4G LTE cloud features including some in rear seat entertainment.
We’re also likely to see some OnStar real time car diagnostics, Eco Routing and even home energy management.
Additionally at CES, GM will demo its advanced Cadillac CUE system, which it called the most powerful OEM car radio back in October. The radio as a hefty 3-core processor (leading smartphones use only dual-core processors). And it also offers the pinch and zoom capacitive, multi-touch screen similar to those found on cellphones, it said.
CUE supports Pandora and Stitcher, HD radio and XM radio and its has 2 USB ports and an SD card slot. It also has natural speech recognition via Nuance.
CES will be held in Las Vegas from January 10-13. OnStar will make an announcement on January 8.
