Harman announced it extended its contract with the VW Group to provide the car maker with new “mid” level infotainment systems. The contract is worth $400 million.
Under the contract Harman will launch a new OEM head unit in fiscal year 2013. It will also provide next generation OEM infotainment systems into more VW cars in fiscal 2015, and will extend the use of its current systems in VW cars in fiscal year 2014.
Harman says it is the leading OEM supplier of advanced in-car computing platforms offering Internet access, 3D navigation, hands free connectivity and other features.
