Outspoken U.S. Transportation secretary Ray LaHood is telling car makers he is not happy with so much distracting technology in the dash.
“There’s absolutely no reason for any person to download their Facebook into the car,” he said in an interview, according to the Wall Street Journal.
LaHood can regulate the gadgets used in cars if the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration can prove that the technology is a threat to driver safety.
You can expect that car makers will begin launching TV ads warning against texting and driving this year. BMW will launch such an ad starting this June. And LaHood is actively asking executives at other makers to join in.
