LG today announced its first Android smartphone—called the Ally—a mid-range slider3G EVDO phone offered by Verizon, whose 3.2-inch touch screen gives you tactile feedback. Since Android phones are getting pretty common these days, LG added a tie-in with a free augmented reality Iron Man 2 game as a differentiator.
The phone is available for pre-order May 13 and will be in Verizon Wireless Stores starting May 20 at $99 after $100 rebate with a two-year contract. The Ally has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and camcorder,a music player, and Bluetooth and WiFi capability. Initial reviews call the Ally a basic vanilla, solid Android phone—pretty much what you’d expect for the price.
