Audiofrog will debut Multiseat Stereo, which is a new software platform for audio processing that will soon be included in an Audiofrog processor.

Unlike systems like Dolby Pro Logic, the software was specifically developed for aftermarket car audio listeners, said Audiofrog founder Andy Wehmeyer.

Multiseat Stereo is upmixer software that makes two channel audio into multi-channel audio.  It is designed to suit typical IASCA and sound competition audio tastes.

“Aftermarket retailers have a different idea of what optimum sound is than OE customers and casual listeners.  Upmixers included in premium OEM system provide a center image in front of the driver and another in front of the passenger,” said Wehmeyer.

“In the aftermarket we hear that and say ‘this is wrong.’  We believe a center channel should be in the center of the dash for the driver and passenger at the same time,” he added.

The software will be demonstrated during KnowledgeFest using a 24-channel prototype amplifier. It is expected to be available in an Audiofrog DSP in 2017.

Multiseat Stereo is made possible through a collaboration with PerfectSurround, maker of an award-winning multichannel upmixing process in use by top film, broadcast and recording studios in over 50 countries.

PerfectSurround translates simple stereo into 5- or 7-channel audio with no phase artifacts, said Audiofrog.

Audiofrog then applies its knowledge of automotive system design and tuning expertise to Perfect Surround’s upmixing.

enabling sound engineers to create the same immersive and believable audio experience for every seat in a theater. Audiofrog has contributed extensive automotive system design and tuning expertise to incorporate additional features and controls that adapt the studio technology to the automotive environment.

The system will be on display at booth 412 at Knowledgefest August 20-22 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.
