Stillwater Designs, Oklahoma, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to be responsible for the design and development of Amplifier power supplies and Class D amplifiers for the car audio marketplace. The engineer will be involved in projects from the concept and detail of the design and analysis through to implementation, testing, certification and selloff to the customer. The engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary project team, including engineers from other disciplines as well as manufacturing personnel, subcontractors technicians, and will possess the technical knowledge as well as the ability to multitask. The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in decision-making, flexibility, planning and organizing, initiative, and interpersonal skills.The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the following areas:

  • Switch Mode Power Supply (DC-DC converters with various topologies) design using 12v automotive supplies
  • Experienced in AC/DC power supply design topologies, including EMI reduction techniques
  • Experienced in full range Class D amp design
  • HW interface (UART, I2C, SPI, RS232, etc.)
  • PCB design using power supply ICs, switching power supplies
  • C or C++ knowledge is a plus
  • Able to write c programs for microcontroller peripherals: PWM, ADC, UART, GPIO is a plus

Essential Duties:

  • Ability to identify design requirements
  • Design and develop power supplies and class D amplifier sections
  • Develop design specifications and technical drawings
  • Be capable of making decisions that may have significant impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Generate formal electrical schematics and drawings
  • Follow engineering development stage gate process
  • Create models and/or prototypes of products
  • Work with others on the design, product management, and production teams
  • Qualify the final product and/or system
  • Ability to produce effective, clear and concise product documentation, reports, and give presentations for design and other engineering reviews and meetings
  • Ability to resolve product and process problems and provide recommendations to improve
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of science (BS) or Master of science (preferred) (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school, with a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience in Altium Designer and DSP processing and Audio Precision a plus.
  • Must possess advance knowledge of electrical engineering skills in both schematic and PCB design, other engineering aspects and be familiar with applicable and acceptable industry practices.
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of electrical engineering and design and be familiar with applicable standards, and acceptable industry practices.
  • Must be able to create PCB designs, or supervise the creation of PCB designs.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient Altium skills
  • PCB Design skills for both SMT and through hole technology
  • Proficient circuit analysis skills
  • Must have excellent English language communication skills sufficient to perform job functions
  • Must have the proper documentation to work in the USA.
  • Must be able to work days, nights and weekends as needed and on short notice
  • Must be able to travel on short notice
