Here’s the Apple Watch Due April 24

Apple announced its new Watch will be available April 24 with pre-orders starting on April 10 at a $349 opening price tag.

The Watch is designed to be used throughout the day in brief interactions with an 18 hour battery life. To charge it, you hold the magnetic charger near the back of the watch and it automatically attaches.

On the Watch, you can receive calls. It communicates with your phone over WiFi and Bluetooth. You can summon a car from Uber on the watch with a few taps, pay with Apple Pay, control your music, and control the watch with your voice through Siri. You can look at sports scores, see what’s trending on Twitter, and view Facebook. You can get any notification you get on your phone. You can ask Siri the temperature in NY and it shows up on the watch, including a full forecast for the week.

You can ask Siri to create reminders on the watch. And you can see messages and emails, and reply on the watch via voice or text.

While you are at work, if you are sitting too long, you can get a notification to standup for a minute to improve your health.

You can get incoming photos from friends on Instagram. If you tap on it, it takes you to the Instagram app.

As you approach an airport you receive flight info including a bar code you can waive through the scanner to get through security.

By pressing a side button you get Digital Touch, which shows your friends so you can message them.

When arriving at a hotel, the watch becomes your room key and can unlock your room. You can use Shazam on the watch to find out the name of a song playing with album art.

Apple demonstrated an app that lets you remotely open your garage door from across the country while viewing a live feed of your garage.

The Watch also offer various fitness apps.

It comes in different versions including a sport model in silver or gray with many colorful bands. The sport model starts at $349, and runs up to $399 depending on the size of the watch.

A mid level 38mm version ranges from $549 to $1,049. A larger 42mm version is priced $50 more.

A luxury Apple Watch Edition gold model starts at $10,000.

Consumers can try out the Watch in Apple Stores starting April 10.

For car audio watchers, Apple CEO Time Cook also said during a press event today, that CarPlay is changing the way we use the iPhone in the car. “I’m pleased to announce that now every major car brand has committed to delivering CarPlay and there will be more than 40 new models of cars shipping [with CarPlay] by the end of the year, only a year after we announced CarPlay. It’s unbelievable momentum.”

  3. I don’t fully understand the need or concept of a “smartwatch” but we must watch(no pun intended) it’s development and growth closely because Apple continues with the moto “If we build it ….they will buy it.”……and they are usually right!

  4. STUPID. Doesn’t really do anything more than your phone. And you still have to carry your phone to use the watch.
