Alpine ICS-X7HD

Alpine Electronics is now shipping its first MirrorLink car radio, a high tech receiver that also offers Siri Eyes Free.

First shown at CES in January, the ICS-X7HD uses MirrorLink technology to let the car radio mimic and control many apps that are on certain Android phones. You can tuck your phone away and let the car radio take over the controls, while viewing app info on the car radio’s 7 inch touch screen (WVGA).

Users with an iPhone can use Siri in an eyes free mode to interact with the phone by voice alone.

The ICS-X7HD is a mechless (CD-less) Bluetooth AV receiver that has built in HD Radio and audio streaming.   It also has Aha by Harman that gives the user access to tens of thousands of audio stations that can be controlled on the car radio’s touch screen.  Aha stations include Internet radio, news, social media, podcasts, audio books, apps and live weather.

Icons can be moved by drag and drop on the ICS-X7HD’s screen, and the user can swipe and slide to navigate the touch screen.

Other features include Pandora, SiriusXM capability and music control over an iPod or iPhone plus an App Direct mode for basic control over iPhone apps.

The ICS-X7HD is available at a suggested retail index price of $800.
