Among the new products Boss Audio will show at CES next month is an iPhone 5 car radio docking station.
Without the iPhone 5, the radio serves as a CD-less double DIN AM/FM receiver with a 4-inch touch screen on the face. It also has Bluetooth, USB and SD inputs.
Push a button and the motorized face tips back and reveal a Lightning connector to plug in an iPhone 5. The phone then becomes your touch screen and controller for navigation, Internet radio and other iPhone 5 functions, with audio playing through the car’s sound system.
The model 9310DBI is expected to ship in June at a suggested retail price of $329.
The iPhone 5 radio is joined by an overhead DVD/monitor with an HDMI input for a smartphone or BluRay DVD player. The monitor has a 12.1-inch screen and it comes with interchangeable color shrouds in black, tan or gray. Shipping is expected next month at a suggested retail price of $369.
Another new Boss product slated for next year is an Android “mirroring” car radio. The BV9375ML has a 6.2 fixed panel display that that can “mirror” the apps and functions of an Android smartphone and also control the phone from the car radio.
The phone connects through a mini USB input, allowing users to view a GPS app directly on the car radio screen. The radio also charges the phone and allows Bluetooth audio streaming.
Shipping is expected in June at a suggested retail price of $399.
Boss will also show several other models including CD-less devices and other car radios that work with Android/iOS devices and ship in Q1.
