iPhone users may be happy to learn that Google has unveiled a new map app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, giving them an alternative to the much maligned Apple Maps.
The Google Maps app is free in iTunes, offering voice guided turn-by-turn navigation and built-in Google local search. It also has Street Views, and public transit directions.
Apple launched its own Maps this fall, but reviewers found it riddled with wrong directions and omissions of key destinations such as bridges and airports.
The poor reception to Apple Maps, caused Apple CEO Tim Cook to offer a public apology.
