Alpine Electronics has released a beta software fix for its newer navigation and AV radios so that they work with the iPhone 5.
The beta firmware update may be downloaded at http://alpine-usa.com/feeds/promo/12avupdate
It addresses previous problems that occurred when an iPhone 5 was plugged into the radio including issues with music playback and steering wheel controls.
The update for 2 Alpine navigation/radios: the INE-Z928HD and INE-S920HD restores the following:
- iPod music playback via USB connection with iPhone 5
- Steering Wheel Control function update
- My Favorites auto pairing function
- Play/pause status icons with play control for streaming music
There’s also an advanced beta firmware update for the Alpine IVE-W535HD AV radio that restores:
- iPod music playback via USB connection with iPhone 5
- Play/pause status icons with play control for streaming music
Alpine is working on an additional fix for earlier iPhone models (iPhone 4/4S) running the new iOS 6 operating system. In this case, some radios have trouble with Bluetooth streaming after downloading the i OS 6 update as we reported. “A couple” of Alpine’s single DIN radios have been impacted with the iOS 6 switchover, said Alpine.
