Car speakers are the only category that saw growth in car audio this year through April compared to the same period last year, said the NPD Group.
January through April saw speaker sales rise 8 percent in units and 3 percent in dollars (for all speaker types combined).
This compares with amplifier sales that were general flat, falling one percent in units and 4 percent in dollars.
In dash players were down 2 percent in units and 7 percent in dollars, said NPD.
