The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sprint will receive the iPhone 5 in mid-October, at the same time as current iPhone carriers AT&T and Verizon.
Sprint will also begin selling the iPhone 4, said the report quoting unnamed sources.
Analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray estimates that Sprint could sell 6 million additional iPhones for Apple in 2012, said Electronista.
Sprint is the third largest carrier in the U.S. with more than 50 million users, compared to AT&T with 95 million and Verizon, with over 100 million users.
Currently Sprint’s best selling phone is the HTC Evo 4G, the 3rd best-selling phone in the country behind the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, says the NPD Group.
Verizon became the second carrier to support the iPhone in February, after AT&T was the exclusive iPhone carrier for three years.
