Pioneer In-Dash Navi at Steep Discount

share on:

Second Update! We’ve heard back from Pioneer Electronics on the Pandora radio discount at Amazon. Larry Rougas VP marketing and product planning for car electronics said “From a Pioneer perspective, we have a MAP policy in place…sometimes the dynamics on the web move so rapidly we can’t respond as fast as people would like us to respond. Andy Parsons SVP corporate communications and new product planning also noted, “Our concern is that we were damaging the channel on purpose. This is not the case. You’ll note that it’s [the promotional listing on the web] is gone.”

Update! We’ve been told the promotion and promotional code listed below ended last week, but that the promotion did run as indicated at a net value below $500. GoSale.com took down the promotion shortly after we ran the story. We also asked Pioneer about the sale last week but did not get a response.

Original story:

Discount season may be starting a little early this year, at least at Pioneer, which is offering 30 percent off merchandise at Amazon.

But there’s one in-dash model (with Pandora) that’s seeing particularly steep discounts at Amazon, for about 40 percent below the going street price.

We’re going to get a little cryptic here to stay under the radar of search engines because we don’t want to promote discounts below your MAP.

Good through October 31, Amazon offers the cutting edge Pandora Model X at $468 (after a $100 rebate and a special $243 coupon). This same unit sells for about $800 on Crutchfield (after a $100 rebate) and its sells for about $650 on the discount sites. Amazon right now becomes the king of discounting in one of car audio’s most lucrative product segments. See the sale here.

See Amazon’s general 30 percent off program below.

  1. I think i saw this same unit the other day in Walmart next to the BBQ chips I was buying. Pioneer has done it again! And our Pioneer rep wonders why we use a AVIC F series nav as a door stop for our bay door. Remember that fiasco.

  2. Dan:

Do you have any idea what you are talking about? I tried it when Ewing sprung this. I bought it, paid for it and forwarded the proof of purchase to my distributor. As the story says, the link and promo has been killed. Better late than never but damage has been done for a while. Check your facts jack&$@

  3. Pioneer has always been and will always be a sell out just like Kicker! Thanks for the rectal punch and all of us mom and pop shops are glad we could get you to the point where you can now discard we, the expendable. Thanks!

  4. it was a deal from pioneer , they want to move some z120bt and x920bt,
you can see that the price drop on sonic and onlinecarstereo.com
$649.00!!!!!! , pioneer like the others , opening there legs again!!!!!
they dont care about the shops anymore, they open amazon direct and if ur lucky yes you can buy 30% below!!!!! i paid like $40.00 for the 1200mp from them.

  5. hey Dan, looks like you need to do some fact checking also. Maybe try looking into the story, instead of trying to debunk something that is 100 % true and verified.

  6. my post on 9-10-2010 taken from a public forum:

heres a guy that just ordered all this and look what it shipped for:

“I just ordered my P4200DVD, ipod cable 200, dash kit, wiring kit and remote for $430!! ”

    another one:

    “Avic-X920BT Amazon Price drop again

    ——————————————————————————–
It is now $812, then 30% off that which comes to $568.40, then you can get a $100 rebate, which will put the final at $468.40. I’m ordering mine now. Thought I would share. “

  7. original post 09/10/2010:

It is for the products on this list(as long as the seller is Amazon):
    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=pe_69560…amazonquery-20

    Code: QBRW8JOL

    another code: VRCBKCX6

get this, they dropped it again price wise, honor the rebate also, so you can in fact get the avic-x920bt for under 500 shipped. no wonder shops are giving up

  8. it was 100% true, the promaotional perios ended on the 18th.

i saw it first hand, and alerted the members of the 12 volt insider group a few weeks ago

  9. I just tried to apply the coupon at checkout and I got this:
We’re sorry, but the promotional code you entered cannot be applied to this purchase. Please refer to your promotional coupon for information about item or store restrictions.

So far it seems to be bogus.

  10. I just checked this link and the discount does not apply when entered. This seems to be a BOGUS deal… nice double checking CE Outlook… you are getting everyone worked up for nothing

  11. Wow! When a customer of mine asked me about seeing that add on amazon I was floored! Now seeing it hear before having time to even check amazon I am disappointed! When will the back stabbing stop. It is unbelievable that now it is coming directly from the manufacture! Is this the dead of our industry that I strive everyday to make more and more professional? Why will manufactures not get behind the professionals working in the industry instead of the easiest way to just dump product. I guess the shareholders will be happy the are selling product at what ever the cost!!

  12. Wow! Pioneer is really doing a great job at wh&*ing out product. Maybe if they work hard enough we can eventually do away with all electronic retailers, fire all of the employees that work at these shops and sell everything online for $1.00 over manufacturing costs. Over better yet, drop the quality of manufacturing down even more so customers have to replace items on a monthly basis. Maybe we might even get to the point where we sell things for less than they cost to build (in China). I wonder why our economy is in crisis? By the way, anyone want to guess why my stores dropped Pioneer?

  13. and here goes Pioneer again…hurting the mom and pop shops by selling out to the man!!! What happened to the loyalty in our industry? It’s all about the almighty dollar now. Sad, sad, sad!!! You should be ashamed of yourselves Pioneer!!!
